Mandap Setup Ideas for South Asian Weddings in the GTA

April 5, 2026 · 5 min read · Toronto

Soft blush floral arch over a wedding stage

South Asian weddings in the GTA carry more decor weight than almost any other format we work on. Multiple events, multiple stages, multiple looks. The mandap is usually the centerpiece, and getting it right sets the tone for the rest of the day.

Four pillar floral mandaps are still our most requested style. The pillars give a defined frame, the florals soften the structure, and the canopy on top reads beautifully in photographs from any angle. We typically work in warm pinks, ivories, and gold for daytime ceremonies and richer reds and oranges for evening.

Draped mandaps with minimal florals are gaining ground for couples who want a softer look. Two layers of fabric in a complementary palette, gathered at the top, with a small floral cluster on each corner. Less is more here, but the drape quality has to be excellent or the whole thing reads cheap.

Jhoola or swing setups for the bride are a sweet pre ceremony moment. We surround them with garlands of marigolds or roses depending on the palette and add a small floral overhang. Gorgeous for first look photos.

A few practical notes. Most GTA venues have a height cap of nine to twelve feet for installed structures. Check before you commit to a mandap design. Power for chandelier lighting needs to be routed cleanly. And the dance floor surrounding the mandap should be clear of installed elements that block the procession.

If you are planning a wedding in Brampton, Mississauga, Vaughan, or anywhere in the GTA with South Asian elements, send us your venue and a few inspiration photos. We will sketch two or three mandap directions that fit the room and the rest of your day.
